WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Infant Swimming Resource offers the safest survival swimming instruction method available.
MORE ABOUT ISR
Lessons are taught in a customised, one-on-one lesson environment, and foster the development of swimming and safety in infants and young children with ISR’s Self-Rescue™ programme. With nearly 60 years of research and development, highly trained certified Instructors committed to safety, and a proven history of success, parents can rest assured that their children are receiving the best possible instruction in the world today.
Watching your child is not enough, nor are pool safety gates able to protect them from every hazardous water situation. Arm your child with an extra layer of protection in the unfortunate event that supervision lapses even momentarily, and he or she ends up in the water alone. ISR is the safest provider of infant and toddler survival swimming lessons worldwide.
With nearly 60 years of research and development behind ISR’s Self-Rescue™ program, ISR teaches each child survival skills in conjunction with basic swimming lessons that give them the competence required to safely enjoy the water. To date, ISR Instructors have delivered more than 19,000,000 ISR Self-Rescue™ lessons, and our over 450 000 ISR graduates and hundreds of documented survival stories, are proof that children can, and should be taught how to save themselves.
ISR LESSONS
An important distinction between ISR and other programs is our emphasis on safety before, during, and after lessons.
ISR’s protocols have allowed for more than 19 million lessons to be safely delivered by individually certified instructors.
Your child is not the only one learning during lessons. ISR’s program includes comprehensive parent education on aquatic safety and drowning prevention.
All lessons are private and one-on-one.
No floatation devices (pool noodles, polystyrene boards, etc) are being used.
Short 10-minute lessons, 5 days per week for an average of 6 weeks as the ISR programme is based on sensorimotor learning, as well as the shaping of muscle memory.
ISR is recognised as the safest swim programme Internationally.
Each child’s registration is carefully assessed by ISR’s team of Paediatricians who monitors the children and send lesson adaptions through if necessary.
Highly qualified and experienced Instructors Internationally.
Children practice their learned skills fully clothed during their final week of lessons.
All our lessons are offered throughout the year in an indoor heated pool with sufficient ventilation.
Children may begin lessons at 6 months of age until 6 years of age.
Lessons for a 6 to 12-month-old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this lifesaving posture until help arrives.
Lessons for children 1-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their heads down; roll onto their backs to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side or steps of the pool.
Once the children are fully skilled, they will practice ISR’s survival techniques fully clothed during the final week of lessons. It is recommended that children complete refresher lessons to help their in-water skill level grow with their physical development.
